Habitat loss
Orangutans are losing their forest homes because trees are being cut down to make room for farms, especially for palm oil, or for wood. When their forests disappear, orangutans have no safe place to live, find food, or raise their families.
Being done about itScientists and rangers are working hard to protect the forests that orangutans still live in, making sure no more trees are cut down in these special places. People are also planting new trees to help regrow lost forests, creating safe new homes for orangutans in the future.
