Orangutan

Pongo

Imagine swinging through the treetops with fiery red fur flashing through the green leaves! That's the amazing orangutan, whose name means "person of the forest." These super-strong, super-smart apes have incredibly long arms – longer than a grown-up is tall! – that help them glide through the rainforest canopy like expert acrobats. If you ever see a male orangutan, you might notice his cool, squishy cheek pads that make his face extra wide, and hear his booming calls echo far and wide!

But orangutans aren't just great at climbing; they're also super clever! They use tools, like sticks to get yummy insects out of nooks, and leaves to soak up water. And guess what? They're like the rainforest's best gardeners! As they munch on tasty fruits, they help spread seeds all over the forest, making sure new plants grow. Without these magnificent red-haired helpers, the rainforest wouldn't be nearly as healthy and full of life. Isn't that just the coolest job ever?
