Habitat loss
Black Stilts need special wet places like braided rivers and marshes to find food and raise their chicks. But many of these important homes are being drained for farms or changed by people, leaving the stilts with fewer safe places to live.
Being done about itBrave conservationists and volunteers are working hard to protect and restore these wetland homes, sometimes by fencing off areas or bringing water back to dry places so the stilts have safe spots to live and raise their families.
